First ER Trip
She made it past her first birthday before her first ER trip, at least. :-) On our way into the room for library story time this morning, Elizabeth fell and hit something. At first, I thought her teeth cut through, but looking at the scratch leading to the deep cut, I now think she must have hit the corner of the door. Her lip bled and she cried for less than five minutes -- the crying and bleeding had both stopped by the time Ms. Jane got back with the ice. I called our pediatrician's office, and they told me to bring her in at 11 a.m. (The fall happend just before 10.) We stayed for story time, and Elizabeth happily played. The doctor thought we should see a plastic surgeon at Dell Children's Hospital, though, and called them to confirm. Off we went to Dell, with a stop to arrange an after preschool playdate for Caroline. We waited and waited at Dell's, finally seeing the doctor who said there was nothing to do. We're just to apply antibiotic cream often -- as often as she licks it off....so, constantly! She may have a scar, but I hear that area heals pretty easily. Elizabeth LOVED socializing with the other kids in our non-sickie waiting room. She even walked up to the custodian asking to be picked up and let the sweet lady hold her for a while.
