Good Earth Petting Farm

The girls and I visited The Good Earth Petting Farm today for a little bit of outdoors fun. It's a bit hot, even at 10 a.m., so we didn't stay long. Elizabeth loved all the "dogs" -- the donkey, the pigs, the sheep, and goats.

"It's Mom's party...

and I'll cry if I want cake."

Elizabeth did not want to stop to take pictures. She wanted CAKE!

A day on the farm

St. Julian's had a farm day this weekend. Elizabeth enjoyed the outdoors and people . . . and Grant's shoes, which she insisted on un-velcroing repeatedly. She's look at me, touching his shoe but not unfastening it, after I told her not to do it. She's a limit-pusher at 17 months. What will two or the teens hold for me? God help me!

Words

Elizabeth's words are becoming more understandable...to me, at least. She can mimic almost anything. Some that are frequently used that I can make out:

Spoken
mama
dadda
sirs (sister)
pop pop (Poppy)
gah (glasses or possibly Caroline)
nurse
wah bah (water or maybe water bottle)
cat
baby
bite
bird
bath
wash
eyes
nose
no
shoes (runner up for favorite)
...and her FAVORITE....
belly button

Signs -- I've really slacked on the signing with her
nurse
more
water
bath
bird
please

Cat Treats

Elizabeth's communication skills are really improving! This evening, she was able to communicate with me that she wanted to give the cats treats. She tried to coax them out and, when that failed, considered putting the treats on top of the bed. In the end, we put the treats under the bed and hope the cats will come tonight after we're all asleep to enjoy them in peace and quiet.

Dinosaur Museum

I finished my nap during our museum visit

and woke up in time to admire the chimps.

Now I'm going to take this stool over to where the rest of the kids are.
