'nother one, mama

If you start the morning with a dozen barrettes in your hair, you still have one in at naptime. (Or at least that is our experience today.)

Weight: 27 lbs 11 oz (60%)
Head: (nurse didn't write it down, but it was around 49 cm, I think, and well above 95%)
(one poke, Hep A) She did shout when the nurse poked her, but then the nurse gave her a sticker and Elizabeth was fine.

She put this sock on all by herself!

(It is mommy's sock, so that may have helped.)

More presents!

Elizabeth's gifts from Poppy and Nana arrived today. She is having a blast with both! (I tried turning her baby the right way in the shopping cart, but she kept turning her around. At our HEB, she does ride in a special car / spaceship cart has her facing that way.)

Happy Birthday, Elizabeth!

Caroline Joyce and Mary Elizabeth with their great-grandmothers (my maternal grandmother, Joyce B Jenkins, and John's maternal grandmother, Irene Elizabeth Bindel)

The Mary / Elizabeth picture: Aunt Mary (my sister) holding Mary Elizabeth; Mary Elizabeth Epperson (John's cousin) holding her daughter Elizabeth

CAKE!

Elizabeth blew the candles out twice. She blew them out right away, before we could finish singing. So I relit them as we sang and she blew them out again.

I think we had twenty-two relatives here -- cousins (first, second, and third), aunts and uncles, grandparents, great-grandmothers, great-aunts and great-uncle for home-smoked brisket and fixins -- and cake and ice cream. It was a good day!

(almost) 2-year-olds are helpers

Remember, the twos are not all about possessiveness. Two-year-olds are very helpful. As Caroline and I dusted and cleaned and packed away Christmas decor, Elizabeth took her cleaning rag and found (honestly) the dirtiest place in the room -- under the (sort-of) live tree! "I hepp mommy!"

M I N E

Elizabeth pretty much racks up during the holiday season. This is her Epiphany gift (after Christmas but before birthday.) Two days from two and you can read her lips in this picture as they say MINE!

Playgroup Party

We had a little birthday celebration with Elizabeth's playgroup friends earlier this week. Cupcakes, dancing, and holding hands. Are those a two-year-old's favorite things?
